Direct answer
The answer from the reviewed material is “unknown.” A published success report can describe one event; it does not provide the count of eligible attempts or a representative sample needed to estimate a drop rate. The snowslept coverage is an example of a reported event, not an odds dataset.
Evidence audit
Why success reports cannot reveal the odds
An observed rate needs successes and eligible attempts measured over the same observation window. Selected success stories omit unsuccessful attempts, and may omit mode or chest-state details. Dividing selected news reports by an invented attempt count would not produce a defensible estimate.
A sample would also need a collection method that does not select only successes. Even then, its result would be an estimate with uncertainty, not proof of an exact game probability. esports.gg and Dot Esports both cover the snowslept case. Our log groups that post and its follow-up as one reported event, rather than counting each article or post as another drop.
How to read the 1 in 700,000 claim
Beebom’s guide states 1 in 700,000, while TimeSaver discusses the uncertainty around the circulating number. We did not find an official Epic table, independently inspectable game field or reproducible sampling method supporting it in the material reviewed for this edition. We therefore label it an unverified claim.
We intentionally do not provide a probability calculator. Feeding an unverified rate into a polished calculator would create precise-looking outputs without improving the evidence.
What would verify a rate
- An official Epic statement or inspectable drop table naming the exact eligibility rules and rate.
- For an estimate: a reproducible sampling plan that counts eligible attempts and successes, reports uncertainty, and does not select only wins.
- Clear mode, chest-state, date/version, and grouping rules for the observation window.
- Event-level deduplication and corrections when a report is retracted or reclassified.
The “rare” wording in media coverage is qualitative; it does not establish a numerical probability. See the public drop-report log for each case’s evidence status or the practical getting guide for sourced mechanics.
